California Baptist swept the team titles in Falcon Heights, Minnesota.
The 16th-ranked Lancers put on a masterclass in racing during the men’s 8k. CBU methodically moved up the pack before dropping the hammer with 3k to go. The Lancers, who were led by Gabriel Guzman in fourth place, put all five scorers in the top 11 as they beat runner-up Wyoming by a score of 39-54.
CBU’s women left nothing to chance on Friday. The Lancers dominated the women’s 6k as they amassed just 25 points for the third smallest women’s winning total in meet history – and the fewest points scored by a women’s team champion since 2017 (San Francisco, 22). Helena Mees and Sarah Schiffman led the way for CBU as they both clocked identical 21:41.5 marks for third and fourth place, respectively.
