The new Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro is the brand’s latest wrist based device.
Having worn the Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro as my go-to training watch for several weeks now, it’s become more than just a notification device on my wrist. It’s a coaching tool, an outdoor navigator, and a reliable daily watch all rolled into one. If you’re a runner or athlete considering a good value smartwatch with great battery life, in-depth sensors and training metrics, this could be just the device for you.
Right away, the build quality stands out. The case feels premium and solid, yet not heavy, and the screen is bright and crisp, which has been a godsend recently with low-level glaring sun on early-morning or late-afternoon runs. The crown and buttons are tactile enough to control while wearing gloves, so full functionality on a cooler morning isn’t a problem.
The AMOLED screen is one of the best parts of the GT 6 Pro. It’s vivid, with excellent contrast and responsive touch controls. On a long Sunday run, I was able to glance at pace, heart rate, and lap splits without squinting, and the animated metrics during interval sessions are easy to read at a glance. The operating system is clean and snappy: menus are logical, swipe controls feel natural, and putting the watch into a specific sport mode is fast , a great feature when you are running an interval session.
For runners, GPS accuracy is non-negotiable, and from my experience, the GT 6 Pro tracked outdoor runs reliably, holding a steady lock even when I ran under tree cover and through a few built-up urban areas. Route navigation is a useful feature if you like exploring new trails: I imported a GPX route, and the turn-by-turn prompts were clear enough that I didn’t have to stop and check my phone. This is a great feature when travelling and wanting to discover new areas.
The GT 6 Pro provides continuous heart-rate monitoring, VO₂ max estimates, training load and recovery guidance, and it generates useful post-run summaries that can help adjust the week’s training if required. For example, during a week of tempo runs and intervals, the training load metric can remind you to take an easy day before your next session.
Heart-rate monitoring is very accurate for a wrist-based device. The watch also tracks SpO₂ and sleep, useful for athletes who want to monitor recovery beyond simple resting heart rate.
One of the big attractions of the GT series has always been multi-day battery life, and the Pro holds up very well. I was able to get through multiple days of mixed activity, daily wear, and long GPS sessions, without panicking about power. For athletes who travel or who don’t want to charge nightly, that reliability is a huge advantage. Charging is straightforward and reasonably quick when you do need a little more juice.
The watch integrates with the Huawei Health app on Android and Apple devices and syncs seamlessly after workouts. You can also sync to services such as Strava with minimal fuss. Notifications, music control and contactless payments are all built-in features.
If you’re a runner or athlete who values accurate training metrics, dependable GPS, strong battery life and a premium finish, the Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro makes a good value option. It’s especially good for people who prefer a watch that’s a little more focused on fitness performance and sensor performance rather than extra bells and whistles, helping you keep focused on the things that matter.
After several weeks of daily wear and a mix of easy miles, tempo efforts, and long runs, the GT 6 Pro has been a reliable, comfortable and intelligent companion. It won’t replace a dedicated coach, but it will guide your weekly training, track recovery, and make navigation seamless when exploring new routes. For athletes who want a premium feel, great battery life and accurate everyday performance metrics, this watch is well worth considering.
