NEW LONDON, Conn. — The Connecticut College men’s tennis team split a doubleheader with Saint Michael’s College and Endicott College on Sunday at the Conn College Tennis Courts.
The Camels dropped a 4-3 decision to Saint Michael’s in the morning match. Conn took the initial doubles point behind wins at the No. 2 and 3 spots from the duos of Edward Petersen (Cape Town, South Africa) and Wolf Sohlberg (Espoo, Finland) and Nikolai Kahrs (Oslo, Norway) and Kristian Brondmo (Haslum, Norway), respectively. However, the Purple Knights rebounded by picking up wins at the top four singles spots to secure the team victory.
Conn’s lone singles win came at the No. 5 position where Noa Hoshino (Tokyo, Japan) took out Ferm Koppelmans in straight sets. The Camels also earned a point by default at the No. 6 spot.
In the afternoon match against Endicott, the Camels swept all six singles matches and took two of three in doubles to post a 7-0 victory. Sigmund Winiecki (Jaffrey, N.H.), Hoshino, Kahrs and Tucker Catalano (Duxbury, Mass.) all supplied wins in both doubles and singles. Gavin Anderson (Avon, Conn.) also contributed a victory at No. 2 singles while Petersen triumphed in his singles debut at No. 6.
Conn completes the fall season with an overall record of 1-1 in dual matches.
