Muskingum University is pleased to announce the hiring of Carson Macklin as Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach. Macklin brings a well-rounded background in collegiate coaching and player development and will play a key role in supporting the growth of the Muskingum men’s soccer program.
Macklin joins the Muskies after serving as the Graduate Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at Defiance College, where he was instrumental in recruiting local and international student-athletes, leading individualized training sessions, and managing a variety of program operations. In spring 2024, Macklin took the reins of the program during a transitional period as Defiance moved from NCAA Division III to the NAIA, demonstrating leadership and dedication to student-athlete success.
“I am excited to welcome Coach Carson to our program,” said Muskingum Men’s Soccer Head Coach Josh Lubich. “He is a great young coach who will be a great role model for our student-athletes and help us take the next step as a program.”
His previous experience includes roles as an exercise physiologist at Public Safety Medical, where he conducted health assessments and stress tests for first responders, and as a personal trainer at the YMCA, where he led fitness classes and created individualized workout programs. He also served as a volunteer coaching assistant at Shelbyville High School and has extensive playing experience with Defiance College, Indy Saints FC, and USF Real.
Macklin holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and is currently completing his MBA from Defiance College.
