INDIANAPOLIS- The IU Indy men’s soccer team had a tough first half of its schedule, going 1-1-2, and in their last five games, the Jaguars have won four of them, with one being a conference game, starting 1-0 in conference play, now 4-2-2. The Jaguars will host Milwaukee on Saturday (Sept. 20) inside Micheal A. Carroll Stadium.
The Jaguars, earlier this week, got the win against Western Illinois 3-1. Sophomore forward Nathaniel Isom started the game off strong, getting the opening goal in the first five minutes. Near the end of the first half, the Jaguars were able to take the lead again with a goal from sophomore forward Christian Nielsen, assisted by Sophomore forward Tyson Aschliman, and near the end of the match, Aschliman would seal the game with a goal at the 78-minute mark. Sophomore Declan Finnegan started in the net and finished the game strong with five saves.
Through eight games, senior midfielder Youri Keijser leads the team in points with two goals and three assists, totaling seven points. Leading the team in goals, sophomore defender Stan Klaver has three and totals six points, and Isom is right behind with two goals and four points. Seven Jaguars have 500+ minutes, and senior defender Brady Horn holds that title with 675 minutes played.

“It was huge for us to get this win going into Saturday; the conditions weren’t the easiest to play in. It really took the whole team to get the win and really helps to go into another conference game with confidence.” Nielsen said
SCOUTING MILWAUKEE UNIVERSITY
Milwaukee is 1-2-4 for the season and 0-0-1 in conference play. Their lone win came against Chicago State 9-1, with four of the goals coming from Fernando Pirry.
Dominic Zuniga leads the team in points with three goals and three assists totaling nine points, and Pirry is right behind him, leading the team in goals with four and shots on goal with ten, totaling eight points. Five members of the team have minutes over 520, with Jack Wagner leading the team with 605.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Jaguars are 1-6-3 all-time against Milwaukee. In last year’s matchup, the Jaguars came up short in a 3-1 loss.
