Goztepe have terminated the loan contract of Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana following his knee surgery.
The Ivorian joined the Turkish outfit on a season-long loan last summer and netted two goals from his first nine appearances.
The 22-year-old sustained a knee injury in December and has since undergone surgery which will keep him out for four months.
Goztepe have now made the decision to terminate the temporary stint as Fofana may not return until the last phase of the season.
The striker will continue his rehabilitation at Cobham. He is most likely to be offloaded during the summer transfer window.
Fofana joined the Blues with a huge reputation from Molde and many compared his performances to Erling Braut Haaland.
However, he has been nowhere near that level. He has failed to meet expectations and the Blues could offload him in the summer.
It remains to be seen whether there are any clubs willing to pay a fee. Chelsea may have to accept a loan with an option to purchase.
