Arsenal have been linked with a surprise swoop for Botafogo striker Igor Jesus before the transfer deadline, according to AS.
The Gunners are desperate for an attacking reinforcement in the coming days and reports claim that Jesus could be an option for them.
The 23-year-old joined Botafogo from UAE club Shabab Al-Ahli last summer. He has made 13 goal contributions since his move.
Former sporting director Edu Gaspar identified him as a transfer target and AS claim that he continues to remain on the Gunners radar.
Botafogo are prepared to sanction his exit for around €30 million. Arsenal won’t be alone in the pursuit and will face competition.
Nottingham Forest are also exploring a move due to Gaspar, who has an administrative role under owner Evangelos Marinakis.
Jesus’ record has not been overly convincing since his move to Brazil, but Arsenal could sign him if there is no concrete alternative.
RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is the prime target for the Gunners, but the striker looks poised to stay at the German club until the summer.
