DUDLEY, Mass. – The Connecticut College men’s tennis team wrapped up a 4-3 victory over Nichols College on Saturday afternoon at the Robinson Tennis Courts.
After taking the lone doubles point to start the day, the Camels split the six singles matches to come out with their third-straight win. Arjun Premkumar (Bangalore, India) supplied the final singles win that pushed Conn to victory.
In doubles, Nikhil Agarwal (San Mateo, Calif.) and Premkumar put up a quick 6-3 win at No. 2 to get the Camels started. Jules Taylor-Kerman (New York, N.Y.) and Walker Mulligan (Gulford, Conn.) followed with a 7-6 victory at the top spot to cement the crucial doubles point.
Agarwal and Mulligan also posted straight-set wins at Nos. 3 and 4 singles, respectively. Agarwal topped Leon Zeis by a 6-2, 6-2 final while Mulligan took care of Kerem Subasi by a 6-0, 7-6 count.
With the match tied at 3-3, the result hung in the balance of the No. 1 singles match between Premkumar and Richard Hartmann. The Conn sophomore won only one game in the opening set but bounced back to win the second by a 6-2 tally. In the deciding third set, Premkumar rallied for a 6-4 victory to seal the team win for the Camels.
Conn (10-5 overall) will next play at Trinity College on Saturday, April 5 at 10:00 a.m.
